Device fabrication – positioning and alignment of MOF crystals

Short abstract:

Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of ultra-porous materials with exceptionally high accessible surface area and structure modularity due to the framework produced by the inorganic nodes coordinated by organic bridging ligands.[12,3]
A number of increasing studies are investigating Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for a variety of functional applications including sensing, microelectronics, energy production, drug delivery and microfluidics.[4] However, MOF-based device fabrication requires synthetic protocols for the controlled growth of the ultra-porous crystals and their integration in suitable platforms.[4] This presentation will summarize the recent progress on MOF crystal engineering aspects from positioning technologies to alignment strategies. [5,6,7,8, 9,10,11,12] A particular focus of the presentation will be the current role of ceramics for MOF device fabrication.
