Biosensors, photoelectrochemistry and photoelectrochemical transduction for biosensing in Córdoba, Argentina

Prof. Dr Ana Baruzzi

National University of Córdoba, Argentina

Short abstract:

In this seminar I will present some of the main projects we develop in Córdoba, in the Faculty of Chemical Sciences at the National University.

Concerning to biosensors we mainly work with amperometric enzimatic ones and I will show, as example, some results related to the first and second generation biosensors we are developing. Our purpose is not only to develop the sensor but also to analyze some physicochemical properties of the enzyme immobilization in the polymeric matrix and correlate them with the analytical response.

Another important branch of the group is to work in the development of photoanodes made of TiO2 nanotubes sensitized with quantum dots with applications in solar cells. The research is mainly oriented to improve the quality of the quantum dots together with the use of the nanotubes to avoid recombination and undesired back reactions. In the last time we have started joining both projects to develop photoelectrochemical transduction for biosensing.
